Piedmont is one of the regions that have entered into UNESCO list in December 2021 of the Intangible cultural heritage for the “Truffle hunting and quarrying in Italy: traditional knowledge and practices”. The “trifulau” (truffles searchers), accompanied by “tabui”, the faithful dog specially trained, go into the woods of our hills in search of the precious and highly sought-after mushroom. The pride of this tradition is the famous Alba Truffle Fair, which takes place every year approximately between October and December and welcomes visitors, tourists, amateurs, and truffle experts from all over the world.

Born from an idea of the American designer Chris Bangle and his wife Catherine, the Big Bench Community Project is a non-profit project to support local communities, tourism, and the artisan excellence of the places in which the giant benches are located. When you sit down you become a little child again, you relax and begin to look at the surrounding landscape with new eyes.

Less than 20 minutes by car from our hotel you can reach the villages of Barolo, Monforte, La Morra, Dogliani, Neive, the heart of the UNESCO Wine Landscapes, with their highly enhanced medieval historic centers overlooking the vineyards. How not to mention Finally Alba, a little further away.

The Langhe has several kilometres of trails dedicated to trekking and paths for bicycles, Vespas or motorcycles, capable of touching the most disparate landscapes: from typical vineyards to pristine woods, with passages where the view opens up to leave room for the breath-taking beauty of the alpine chain. There is also no shortage of golf courses overlooking the hills, designed by the most famous designers and capable of conquering all fans of this sport. Lovers of strong emotions and high altitudes cannot miss the opportunity of a balloon flight over the hills.

Not only wine, the Piedmontese culinary panorama is also a source of pride and excellence all over the world. It is a very varied cuisine, which revolves around typical dishes and ingredients, such as the Alba White Truffle, known all over the world, the hazelnut (“Nocciola”) - one of the best and fundamental ingredient of all the local pastry, the meat of veal - used both raw and cooked - risottos, fresh pasta - such as agnolotti, the famous “tajarin” and gnocchi - cheese and much more. In Piedmont every meal is a discovery, and there is certainly no shortage of places to experience it: from small taverns to starred restaurants, every village - even the smallest - offers the most varied solutions to satisfy every type of palate, from the most traditional to the most demanding. And for those who want to experience the satisfaction of cooking their own lunch or dinner based on Piedmontese dishes, cooking classes and courses are available and suitable for everyone, in Italian or foreign languages.

Barolo, Dogliani, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dogliani, Dolcetto, Pelaverga, Alta Langa, Nascetta... are just few of the most famous wines produced in the Langhe and which can be tasted in the countless cellars a few kilometers away by car. Piedmont, and the Langhe in particular, boasts an extraordinary wealth in the wine sector. Not surprisingly, in 2014, the Langhe Roero and Monferrato Wine Landscapes were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thanks to the 10,789 hectares of land exclusively dedicated to the production of wine. Visiting the most renowned wineries and following the winemaking process from harvesting the grapes to bottling is a unique experience, capable of making the moment of the final tasting even more unforgettable.

The Langhe are also the region of castles and medieval villages, starting with Alba, the “city of 100 towers” up to Pollenzo and its castle, once the royal residence of King Carlo Alberto and today the seat of the first Italian school of Gastronomic Sciences. How not to mention the Castle of Serralunga d'Alba, which overlooks one of the most fascinating and historically intact villages of the Langhe, the castle of Grinzane Cavour, which stands on the vineyards belonging to Camillo Benso, the man who transformed these places in a production centre of the wonderful wines of the region and the Castle of Barolo, guarded by an amphitheatre of hills.Monumental areas of great value, historical itineraries on the hills so loved by Cesare Pavese and Beppe Fenoglio, which gave birth to great historical figures such as Luigi Einaudi - second President of the Italian Republic - and more extravagant, such as the architect Giovanni Battista Schellino. This and much more is what you can discover by getting lost in the Langhe and letting yourself conquer by their cultural heritage, to learn about the stories, curiosities, and legends of a territory still to be explored.

For families, especially the more urban ones, the Langhe represent a real moment of escape. Completely immersed in the green hills and with the mountains on the horizon, you can experience many adventures perfect for all ages: outdoor sports, easy itineraries by bicycle or on foot surrounded by dense and magical woods full of stories to tell, days in farm or safari to observe the animals, small villages to explore and many tasty and genuine products to taste.

The closest attraction to reach starting from Le Case di Angelina is certainly represented by the white calanques of Clavesana, a geomorphological phenomenon that over the centuries has created high and steep white slopes devoid of vegetation that plunge headlong into the river, creating an atmosphere intimate and magical at the same time.
